Welcome to my Experiment

I'm going to call this an update journal. It'll serve as a way for me to track progress on projects or goals that I have, as well as being a place for me to share some of the stories from my various escapades.

This one is going to be a bit longer than future posts because I am going to be covering the entire month of January.

Update #1:

I spent the 1st of the year in the Rocky Mountain National Park with my friend Stephanie who had just finished up a semester abroad in Manchester. We were only in Colorado from the 30th-3rd because I had to be back in Tempe for CA Spring Training. For those of you that don't know, I am a Community Assistant (CA) which is just another name for an RA.

Classes started and the assignments started to add up. I am taking 18 credits this semester, and I'm excited for the class but worried about the work load. Here is the list of my classes:

  • Designing & Implementing Mixed-Reality Experiences is essentially an augmented reality class taught using C# and Unity.

  • Media Installations is a class where we use Max 7 to design interactive programs that can do things like turn motion into sound

  • Documentary Production is a class within the film program where we will be, you guessed it, making documentaries.

  • Media Literacy and Compositions is a glorified English class that focuses on technology and the culture that surrounds it.

  • Hitchcock is just an online film class focusing on Alfred Hitchcock as a filmmaker

  • Independent Film is another online class, but focuses on independent film history and its practices

I went to two concerts this month. The first was the band Kuinka, who used to be called Rabbit Wilde. I first saw them at Electric Forest two years ago with my good friend Alex Kohlman, and have been waiting to see them ever since. They did not disappoint. Be on the lookout for their NPR Tiny Desk show in the next few months.

The second concert I got to see was Hippo Campus. They played at The Van Buren, which is now my favorite indoor music venue, and they were fantastic. It was one of the best shows I've seen in terms of the music, and they are my favorite group at the moment. This band called Sure Sure opened for them, and were also really good, and they are coming back in May, so I might catch that show as well.

There was a Super Blue Blood Moon on the last day of the month. I called my friends the night before and they told me that they didn't think I would be able to wake up early enough to see it. I woke up at 5 the next morning and went over to their house to watch it from their roof. I think I ended up having more fun just being with them on the roof than I did watching the moon.

We got to sit and watch as the sky grow brighter as the sun was rising. The birds woke up and started talking to each other and we just sat there and listened to their morning song. It was really something else, and I'm so glad I got to share that with them

I finally finished my 2017 video too, so that's always a plus.

And finally...

Here are my goals for this week in no particular order:

  • Start an exercise routine

  • Make a video

  • Do a photo walk every day

  • Finish all of my assignments for the week before the weekend

  • Read for an hour every day

  • Clean my room
